The Manasota Track Club website is going through updates starting in July 2020. Please be patient with us as we redesign our site for you. We promise this site will be well worth waiting for as we gather new content, photos and rewrite the content. There will be an announcement sent out when we launch the new site. If Members have content to share, suggestions for things you want to see in the site, OR would like to participate on the Website Committee, please email: Scott Ventura at email@example.com
There has been some members asking about the MTC Guidelines for COVID-19.
The goal is to provide guidelines for Manasota Track Club sanctioned events and races in the coronavirus environment.
The Manasota Running community is made up of thousands of micro communities – races, clubs, stores, timers, nonprofits, race organizations, sponsors, volunteers and more. This diversity brings strength to our community because passion drives much of the efforts to put on races. These communities are spread across this huge country and have access to amazing resources.
After assessing many event scenarios, we decided that it was in the best interest of our athletes and the community. We are grateful to all of our athletes, volunteers and sponsors for their patience and continued support as we worked to make this difficult decision.
The health and well-being of our athletes, volunteers, spectators and community are of the utmost importance to the Manasota Track Club. Because of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the MTC is recommending following CDC, State of Florida and Sarasota County guidelines.
It’s important to recognize that there is not a single set of rules that can be applied to all events. There is a need to localize plans for our community, working closely with local health officials, volunteers, participants, and community.
These guidelines will definitely change as we learn more about COVID-19.
All Members, coaches, fans, vendors and officials should follow the guidelines from the CDC, state, and/or local authorities.
We will continue to work with County officials as we establish best practices and procedures to ensure a safe and successful return to racing.
MTC also recommends bringing personal hand sanitizer, masks, chairs, and antibacterial wipes to events for personal use.
A quick Summary of CDC Guidelines:
– Social Distance: A minimum of 6 ft from others.
– Wear a Face Cover: Everybody should wear a face cover in public spaces when you can’t Social Distance. City of Sarasota now requires a Face covering in the city limits in public places.
– Wash your Hands: Wash your hands often with soap and water. Or use hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol if soap and water is not available.
– Cover coughs and Sneezes: Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze. Wash your hand immediately with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
