The Manasota Track Club is an official 501-c-3 non-profit organization that was founded in May of 1975 to serve the running community of Sarasota and Manatee counties, Florida. The club consists of approximately 570 family memberships, but has well over 1000 individual members in total. We are a sub-chapter in good standing of the Road Runners Club of America and also a member of the USATF Association.
The MTC is organized to champion healthy, active lifestyles through the promotion of running and walking as a means of achieving lifelong fitness. The club sponsors numerous social, charitable and running events throughout the year.
Each year the club, through its volunteer base and race management services, helps numerous other local non-profits raise awareness and revenue for their worthy causes. The positive economic impact of the many MTC events can be seen on the Community Involvement page of our website.
The MTC produces a monthly newsletter that is distributed to all members. This monthly publication can be viewed either on-line or can be mailed to each member.
The club maintains an active website at: manasotatrackclub.org All the news about our local running scene can be found on the website, including an extensive racing and training calendar, along with race results and photos.
Annually the club hosts an awards banquet each January, a family picnic usually in May and also its signature event, Bill’s Beer Run each October.
Since its inception, the club has partnered with Sarasota Parks and Recreation to sponsor the Summer Beach Runs. This is a unique summer long event held each Tuesday evening on the Siesta Key Beach. It is not unusual to see over 500 kids and maybe 300 adults gather each week for a run/walk of some sort.
MTC members are regular contributors to the local Blood Bank. We donate over 100 units annually.
Club members typically receive a reduced ($5.00) entry fee for in many local Races. There are also numerous running and fitness stores that give 10% discounts off merchandise to MTC club members.
Each year the Board of the MTC grants several high school students with a modest monetary stipend to assist with the cost of their college tuition.
