Time to dust off those running shoes and get ready for the 32nd Annual Run for the Turtles! Our run supports the Sea Turtle Conservation & Research Program at Mote Marine Laboratory and is the Program’s major fundraiser — it’s helping us help sea turtles!
The PV Python 5K is chip timed. The route travels from Pine View School, through an adjacent neighborhood, back to the school along a short trail, and wraps-up on the Pine View track, where your friends and family can cheer you to the finish! This is a Manasota Track Club sanctioned event. Police will be stationed along the route, and there will be two water stations.
5K Trophies: Overall Youth & Adult Male and Youth & Adult Female, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Master and Veteran; 5K Age Group: 5 Year Age Groups – Male & Female (6 Deep)
Join us for our first annual timed Run/Walk in beautiful Sarasota FL to raise money for research on Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD). SCAD is a little known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. Most patients are young, healthy women that do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease.
SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women and new moms. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can recur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
5K Details & Kids Fun Run
The timed 5K run/walk will take place at Payne Park in Sarasota, a vacation destination! The SCADaddle takes place on a two lap course through and around the park on a varied terrain of crushed cinder, concrete sidewalk and grass. There will also be a Kids Fun Run immediately following the finish of the 5K for all interested!
Register by March 31 to guarantee this year’s t-shirt. Refreshments will be served at the end of the 5K.
Awards/Recognitions for Participants
For the 5K, awards will be given to overall winner male/female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place male/female overall and to the top three males/females for the following age groups: 11 and under; 12-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+
All participants in the Kids Fun Run will receive a medal.
The 4th Annual SUP & RUN 5K event will be held Nathan Benderson Park to benefit Operation Second Chance (OSC). Take a moment to learn more about OSC here: www.OperationSecondChance.org
The SUP & RUN 5K gives athletes three great races in one to choose from. A 5K Run, a 5K SUP or a 5K SUP & RUN. Athletes participating in the combination SUP & RUN, run the 5K first and then hop on their paddle board for a 5K paddle around Nathan Benderson Park. The event draws top runners and SUP’ers who compete for cash prizes and the not-so-serious athletes have a prominent place in the event. The SUP & RUN 5K is a family style event.
WALKERS ARE WELCOME and encouraged to attend.
The SUP & RUN 5K race venue is world-class, the medals/dog tags (all finishers receive one) are AMAZING, the race shirts and SWAG are truly head and shoulders above most races and the food & post race celebration party is FUN! FUN!
